Listening In: A Monthly Women’s Therapy Group- Meet Kaci
Location: Downtown Modesto
Tell us a little bit about yourself and what inspired you to start your business!:
I am a mother, a wife, a therapist, an entrepreneur, a feminist, and a passionate humanist, dedicated to making the world a better place one connection at a time! I’m in an interracial and interfaith marriage, together with my incredible husband, teaching our two young boys that LOVE knows no bounds and that all human beings are worthy of dignity and respect, regardless of how they look or what they believe!
Although many of you know me through She Is Loved, my day job is as a psychotherapist in my own private practice, specializing in supporting women and mothers. This career path seemed set out for me from a very early age, and despite all obstacles, fears, and exhaustions on my journey here (think: overnight shifts all by myself at a 13 bed psychiatric rehabilitation home for transition-aged youth, years of unpaid or very low paying work pre-licensure in trauma saturated communities, etc.) I was unrelenting in pursuing what I consider my true calling. This career path is a big part of what brings so much purpose and meaning to my life.
Tell us about your business offerings, who your business is for, and why you're so passionate about serving this client base!:
Although I do have a full practice seeing female clients from all over California both individually and in virtual groups, getting more involved in our local community through She Is Loved highlighted a need that I feel called to meet! I am launching my first in-person women’s therapy group in this community in March and I could not be more excited! We live in a beautiful community, and just like any community, we have our share of complexities! Being able to offer a safe, therapeutic space for women feels particularly important to me, especially right now.
Tell us something exciting your business will be doing soon that we should know about!:
Listening In is a monthly, in-person therapy group for women who want to slow down, reconnect with themselves, and safely connect with others, in order to more fully trust their inner voice, especially in a world with so much noise.
Each group session will start off with a guided mindfulness exercise, and follow with a reflective journaling or doodling prompt. The remainder of the time spent will be optional group sharing in a supportive, nonjudgmental space. This group sharing will also include psycho-education and optional psychodynamic exploration (inner child experiences, relationship dynamics, etc.).
An important note: My work is grounded in protecting human dignity and emotional safety for all people, with special care for those who have felt marginalized or unsafe within larger systems. In my group spaces, we strive to honor diverse lived experiences. If perspectives are shared that may unintentionally invalidate or minimize another person’s experience of harm, fear, or oppression within societal, governmental, or religious systems, I may gently guide the conversation to support understanding and emotional safety for all members. 🫶
There are currently only 2 spots open for our first group session in March, but this group will be rolling enrollment until all 12 spots are filled with women committed to attending regularly, so even if the group is full by the time you sign up, please still join the waitlist and maybe a future session will have an opening for you!
Lastly, if you’ve been involved, or would like to be involved in a future She Is Loved event, but are also interested in joining this group, please READ THIS! Thanks so much!
Here’s to community, and cheers to spreading love!
